THE AJNA CHAKRA SYSTEM

The ajna system was our ancestors attempt at trying to explain the higher experiences of the human mind.

Manas	Sense registration.
Chitta	Memory.
BUDDHI	Intellect. Logical and rational thinking. Decision making and discriminative faculty of the mind. Intoxicants, like alcohol, reduce the control that the intellect has on the system, this is why we often act irrationally when we are intoxicated.
Ahamkara	Feeling of being an individual. Soul - yet most enlightened people have pointed to the heart center as the home of the embodied soul. Perhaps the Ahamkara is the experience of the individual mind.
HIGHER COGNITIVE EXPERIENCES.	The neo-cortex and it's experiences.

Modern brain research divides the brain into four main categories.

These modern categories can be mapped onto the yogic model of "three head chakras."

The Emotional Brain:

Bindu chakra (back of the head)

The Logical Brain:

Ajna chakra (front of the head)

Logistical thought responses to inner and outer events
Command center that tries to plan and implement the logistics of satisfying environmental demands and inner desires

The Higher Mind:

Crown chakra (top of the head)
